- Native to the island of New Caledonia, this solitary palm has large 8-10ft arching fronds & wide leaflets that are thick in texture. For several weeks, its spectacular new leaf will have a red color, anywhere from dark burgundy purple to a lighter pink, thus its common name of "Flamethrower palm".
